You
may opt for going by car as far as Lombo do Salão (asphalt
road surface) leaving the road from Calheta and coming up
to a place where the asphalt ends giving onto a gravel
road. Leaving the car go to the right following the path
as far as the Rabaçal tunnel. Passing through it you will
find on your right the path that takes you to the 25
Fontes, high point of this walk. Take care because as you
leave the tunnel you will find an uphill climb to the
right which leads upto the Rabaçal houses. This route is
only taken as an option.
After a bite to eat next to the crystal-clear waters which
originate at the 25 Fontes you can go back until you see a
sign which indicates the “Risco”, a really fabulous
place. Here we come upon an enormous waterfall flowing
down a precipice. If the weather is favourable, you will
be able to see a rainbow in a dazzling setting.
On the way back you can opt for going as far as the Rabaçal
houses or go back to the car and visit Rabaçal by road.
