Herbaceous perennial, 20-80 cm in height, wilh palmate tubercles. Upright stems. Lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate leaves, up to 35 x 5 cm, the upper leaves gradually smaller in size. Conical to cylindrical inflorescence, with 10-50 flowers, 1.8-3 cm. Purplish-pink to pale pink or white perianth. Labellum 8-16 x 9-18 mm, generally with darker spots.
Common plant which inhabits the Laurisilva, from altitudes of 500-1100 (-1500)m.
