Perennial
shrub, reaching 1.5 m in height, ramose, densely greyish to
whitepuberulent. Lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate leaves, wedge-shaped at the base, 5-12 x 2-4 cm,
crenate to dentate, whitish-green above and whitish beneath.
Verticillasters formed by 2 flowers, borne in generally dense, terminal and
axillary racemes. Purplish, externally pubescent corolla. Tube of corolla (8-)10-11.5 mm.
Common plant which inhabits the Laurisilva, in rocky areas at high altitudes in
interior of Madeira and at lower altitudes on Southem slopes. |
