Small perennial shrub, reaching 1.5 m in height. Ramified Stems, with floccose
indumentum. Ovate-cordate to ovate-triangular, obtuse leaves, 5-12 cm, that are
pubescent above and densely white-tomentose beneath. Generally auriculate
petioles. Numerous heads borne in large corymbs of glossy, purp1ish disk
flowers, and paler 1igules.
Common plant which inhabits the Laurisilva and rocky slopes of areas in the
interior of Madeira above altitude of 1000 m. Very rare on Porto Santo where it
inhabits rocky slopes of a peak.
