Herbaceous perennial, reaching 50 cm in height, with thick, elongated
rhizome. Ascending stems. Ovate to lanceolate or slightly elliptic leaves, 7-20 x 3-5.5 cm,
and acute apex, entire or slightly crenate. Elongated, cylindrical spike
inflorescence, with 40-60 or more flowers, approximately 12.5 mm. White campanulate
perianth, with lanceolate segments, the external ones being pubescent.
Very rare plant which inhabits some moist, shady areas of the Laurisilva, at
altitudes of 300-800 m. |
