Herbaceous perennial. Stems are woody at the base, very ramified, and
decumbent to ascending, 15-45 cm. Compound leaves, with 5-6 pairs of elliptic-oblong
leaf1ets, 5-20 x 1-6 mm, being greyish-green, glabrescent above and pubescent
beneath. Dense inflorescences, similar to heads, of 5-20 flowers, 20-35 mm in
width; pale-yellow calyx; cream-coloured to pinkish corolla, 12-15 mm, with
purplish spots on the extremities. Glabrous, oblong fruit (pod), 4.5-5.5 mm.
Very rare plant which inhabits rocky slopes in mountainous central region of
Madeira, at altitudes of 1200-1800 m. |
