The
capital city, Funchal, is the most important commercial, tourist and
cultural centre of the whole of the Madeira archipelago.
In Funchal, strolling round the streets along the pretty,
typically-paved side-walks, we can visit the magnificent gardens,
shop at one of the many shops with national or international names,
or simply enjoy a few pleasant moments seated at one of the outdoor
cafés in the old streets of the centre.
