Traditional Madeiran Gastronomy

At only 30 minutes from Funchal and at an altitude of 950 metres, the Residencial Encumeada Restaurant offers you the taste of traditional gastronomy in a pleasant environment, surrounded by the pure air of the Laurissilva forest and with a panoramic view over the Ribeira Brava valley.
In our three dining rooms, with capacity for 300, 200 and 100 persons, we offer a wide range of dishes typical of the mountain areas, such as kid and suckling pig, not forgetting beef on the skewer and a house speciality, rabbit Encumeada-style.
For lovers of fish, our kitchen offers various options, among them sea bream, sea bass, parrot fish and grouper, all of them baked in the oven. The accompaniments are also varied, the most requested being roast sweet potato, jacket potato, sauté potatoes, rice and salads. And as wine is never lacking at a good Portuguese table, you can choose from our extensive wine list that which is most pleasing to your palate. As a dessert, we suggest a selection of fresh fruits, ice cream or our own delicious puddings, followed by a good coffee which can be accompanied by an equally appreciated liqueur.
