You leave Achada do Teixeira in the direction of Pico Ruivo at 9 a.m. On arriving at Pico Ruivo carry on in the direction of Encumeada. The route is approximately 22 kms, and takes roughly seven hours to complete. Therefore you will need to take a packed lunch. You arrive at the summit of Encumeada about 4 p.m. You descend for another kilometre to the Residencial Encumeada where you can enjoy a beer at our outdoor café before checking in.
