___________Ribeira Brava

The municipality of Ribeira Brava was created by decree on the 6th May, 1914. The place known as Lugar, was the most populous and busiest place in the parish, close to the port and being in a position of easy and frequent access to the other localities. It followed therefore that it should be chosen as the seat of the new municipality and of the new town, which include the following places, Lugar, Calvário, Bagaceira and Moinhos.
