This
is the municipality where the new international airport of Madeira
is situated. Santa Cruz has seen enormous development in recent
years.
The parish of Caniço, 10 kms from Funchal, is an important tourist
destination, but the main attraction of the area is Camacha, known
for its folklore and wicker-work.
